Uses & Care
Yes! ZipNow bags are completely microwave safe. And unlike plastics, they don't contain BPA, lead, phthalates or PVC that can leach into your food when heated. ZipNow bags won't warp or melt in the microwave.
Just leave the seal of your bag partially open to allow steam to vent, and you're good to go. Be careful when contents are hot.
When cooking with your ZipNow bags in the oven, make sure to place it on an oven-safe sheet or pan, and keep the heat below 425 degrees Fahrenheit or 218 Celsius. You'll also want to leave the seal partially open for steam to vent, and allow your ZipNow bag to cool off before handling again!
Yes, ZipNow bags are completely freezer safe. Our thick silicone will not get brittle from freezing it frequently.
ZipNow bags are great for Sous Vide cooking! Here are some super simple instructions for using your ZipNow bags to Sous Vide:
Place your ingredients in the bag, then seal the bag, leaving a 2-inch opening anywhere on the seal. Then slowly submerge your bag in water, the pressure of the water on the outside of the bag will push out any excess air and create a vacuum-like tight seal around your food. Once you have the bag almost fully submerged, pinch the seal completely closed to avoid any air coming in.
The ZipNow bags are dishwasher friendly. You can always use warm soapy water to wash your bag. If any debris build-up, scrub away gently with a brush. Let your bag air dry on a rack.
ZipNow bags are designed to hold liquids upright in a kitchen environment. When kept upright and sealed properly, ZipNow bags are completely leak proof. ZipNow bags were never designed, for instance, to fill with water and hold upside down or for taking liquids on the go.
Most foods will not stain your ZipNow bags. There are a few foods, however, which can stain pure silicone such as tomato sauce, curries, watermelon, cooked carrots and other red/orange foods.
Try rubbing with a baking soda and water mixture. Rinse well and then wash as usual.
Food grade silicone is nonporous which inhibits bacterial growth and odors. However, some foods or dishwasher detergents can retain an odor.
For dishwasher detergents, It is best to choose dishwasher soap or detergents that do not contain essential oils, antibacterial agents or moisturizers. Gentler, more natural dishwasher soap/detergents work best to clean ZipNow bags, especially ones that are scent free.

Just like you would typically not take soup in a plastic zippered bag in your backpack, ZipNow bags are designed to hold liquids in a kitchen environment. ZipNow bags are wonderful on the go for leftovers, sandwiches, dry snacks, veggies, fruit, nuts, etc.
